Weekend Watch - Pumpkin Picking & Poorly Households

Oh dear god I cant tell you just how horrendous this weekend has been, lads. We've been a household full of lurgy and then some. In fact the only person who hasn't caught whatever virus we're all currently under the spell of is Lily, which is strange as her immune system is as poor as mine is usually. It started off with Archer who became ill at the start of the week and made sure we all knew about it, then by Thurs James was complaining of feeling run down and by Friday morning he was calling in sick to work for the first time in years. By Friday evening I was in bed by 8pm feeling exactly the same. Ugh!

So I guess the weekend technically started on Friday as Lily had a training day and therefore broke up for half term on the Thurs. (fate sure did pick the best time for a long weekend..)

We didn't do much on Friday thanks to how rubbish we were all feeling. Soft play in the morning and then most of the afternoon was spent with the patio doors open and the kids in the garden whilst me and James lay on the sofas wishing for bedtime to come haha.

Lily did a whole heap of neighbour spying through the fence which made me laugh. She was the definition of a nosey neighbour as she turned round to me at one point and declared 'ooh next door have got a visitor mum, interesting!'

Lily willing choosing to do homework on day one of the holidays, who is this angel child!

By Sunday we were experiencing that these kids are driving us mental we n e e d to get out of this house kind of feeling. So both me and James dragged our broken bodies to Swithens Farm for the afternoon. We chose this particular farm because it has a huge number of play facilities for kids. Aside from the animals there's an outdoor play area with massive sand pit, three trampolines, bouncy castle and a row of about 50 assorted bikes and trikes as well as indoor soft play. Well worth the small entry fee. We also knew that they were holding a pumpkin patch this weekend and I'd been wanting to go for a while (photo ops, obvs) so it seemed like a good venue choice.
As it turned out the pumpkin patch was a total let down and seriously over priced as it wasn't even included in the farm entry. It was like someone had just nipped down the road to Asda, bought a couple of pumpkin with a budget of a fiver and then chucked them all in one of the fields. We had to laugh. The kids weren't bothered though and there was a lot more play area wise to take their attention anyway.
They had a great afternoon as we were lucky enough to have almost the entire place to ourselves. As this farm is on top of a hill I'm guessing most sensible people out there were avoiding Storm Brian, but where's the fun in being sensible hey!

I'm  currently writing this post up  on Monday morning, having to chosen to leave it till now in the hopes that I'd feel better. I do not. In fact I think I feel worse, and with Lily's birthday weekend looming before us this weekend I'm hoping it out of my system by then. Ahh.

  4. Ah no, hope you soon feel better! It does kind of look like the pumpkins have been placed there, doesn't it? Glad you had a good time at the farm anyway though x

  7. I know I have said it before but you take the most stunning photographs. What camera do you use and what programme do you use to edit just out of interest? I also hope you are all on the mend now. Nothing worse then having a house full of the lurgy. x
